This 3-day course covers a variety of photographic concepts and techniques ranging from very basic to more advanced.  Some content will be applicable at the crime scene while some will be more relevant in a laboratory setting.  Regardless of the application, the goal is for each attendee to more fully understand their camera and how to make the necessary adjustments to acquire the best possible digital images.     

  • Basic camera operation including aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field, white balance and metering
  • Crime scene photography procedures
  • Macro photography (e.g. fingerprints, bloodstains)
  • Documentation of footwear & tire track impressions
  • Night scene photography using painting with light
  • Photography of bullet trajectories using lasers
  • Approved by the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy for 25 hours of Continuing Law Enforcement Education (CLEE) credits
